Peter Tush shares how The Dalí Museum is using AR to transform the visitor experience.
Peter Tush, curator and senior interpreter at The Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, has been a driving force behind the museum’s educational and interpretive programming for over 20 years. With degrees in art history from New College of Florida and the University of South Florida, Peter combines scholarly depth with a gift for making art accessible and engaging.
As curator of education, he shapes how visitors connect with Salvador Dalí’s visionary works and other featured artists. From curating exhibitions and crafting gallery labels to training docents and leading school programs, Peter’s influence is felt throughout the museum experience. His public talks offer fresh insights into each new exhibition, helping audiences navigate the surreal and symbolic world of Dalí with clarity and wonder.
Peter will share his perspective on the museum’s use of augmented reality—a powerful tool that’s transforming how we interact with art. He’ll explore how emerging technologies can deepen engagement, expand accessibility, and open new doors for creative interpretation in the museum space.
Peter will be in conversation with Arts Advocates member Nanette Crist. A retired lawyer, Nanette worked as a columnist for the Charlotte County edition of Florida Weekly while living in Punta Gorda. She quickly discovered how much fun it is to talk with people about their lives and experiences. In Sarasota, Nanette has interviewed nationally known playwrights, including Lauren Gunderson and Bess Wohl, in connection with Urbanite Theatre’s Modern Works Festival. Nanette also participated in Arts Advocates’ Art Talk series, interviewing artists Truman Adams, Patricia Anderson, and Chalk Festival founder Denise Kowal.
This event is in the Arts Advocates Gallery, located inside the Crossings at Siesta Key mall, 3501 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Enter the mall through the doors next to Connors Steak & Seafood and turn left.
